Operating a solar water heater is a very simple process, but you must pay attention to some key things to operate it efficiently and safely. The specific steps to utilize are as follows:
First use
1. Fill the water tank: For pressurized solar water heaters, before the first use of the solar water heater, you should let the cold water pipeline automatically fill with water, or manually open the cold water valve to fill the tank with water, which should be filled with water in order not to have residue air.
2. Take a reading of the water level in the tank: In unpressurized solar water heaters, if you have a water level indicator in the solar water heater, you can tell if the tank is full from the display. Without the monitor, you would observe from the overflow, water from the overflow when the tank is full.
3. Test the system:
Before the system is first used, you need to examine the entire solar water heating system to ensure there are no leaks at any of the connections and that the pumps, valves, and all other hardware are operational. Special attention needs to be given to the temperature sensor and controller to ensure their sensitivity and accuracy.
4. Initial heating: After water injection has been completed, shut down all valves and wait for a hot sunny day to start the process of heating. In general, on a high-sun day, it will take about 4-6 hours for the water temperature to reach 50-60 degrees Celsius. The first heating should be done during the daytime so that you can test whether the system is functioning correctly, allowing the water heater to operate smoothly in the future.
Daily usage
1. Use hot water as needed: In the daytime, there is solar heating for hot water to use. When you use it, you can adjust the suitable water temperature by mixing hot and cold water with the mixing valve to avoid the water temperature being too high or too low.
2. Logical water time selection: By general rule, warm water should be used on sunny afternoons and evenings, when the temperature of tank water is usually the highest. On sunny days, especially, the water temperature will be greater.
Auxiliary heating
Electric Heating Auxiliary Mode: When there is cloudy weather or no sun for consecutive days, electric heating auxiliary equipment is activated to supply hot water. The electric heating mode is usually switched on via the control panel or manual switch, and one should exercise caution in adjusting the right heating temperature in order to conserve energy.
Water tank filling
Refilling regularly: Ensure there is always water in the water tank. Refill cold water in the water tank after each use of hot water, open the cold water inlet valve, and allow the water tank to fill and close. If the water tank does not have an automatic filler, refill it manually. Note not to allow excess amounts of water fill operation during nights or rainy days so as not to affect the consumption of water temperature is too low.
Though the process of installing a solar water heater may appear complicated, a professional installer can ensure that the entire process goes well. One must consider that while the up-front cost is high, it is a long-term investment because it can lower energy bills and carbon emissions significantly. Choosing to install a solar water heater is not just a step towards eco-friendly living, but also laying the foundations for a more environmentally friendly home in the future.
